Guess who decided to drop in?

I was in the crapper last night when I heard a shrill scream… I found out later that my dog found this fruit bat with a torn wing.

After some contemplation, it was decided that we should keep it for a few days to see if it recovers. It is not likely to survive if it were to be released since one of the wing is torn.

I think the mother bat is around somewhere though, so we’ll leave the cage open tonight to see what happens.

Update: We decided to let it go last night. Tied the cage to the orchid stand and it was gone after a couple of hours.

To answer Huay’s question, we did put a slice of apple which it did not eat. So my brother hand fed it grapefruit juice through a syringe.

Ermmm…. Its wasn’t grapefruit juice that I fed it… It was grape and pomegranate juice.

Anyway, I hope it was taken by the mother bat and not attacked by some bats from other tribes. Dunno if bats are territorial or not. Did see a few larger bats flying low, around the cage, just before baby bat disappeared… Hope the mother bat was among those larger bats…
