What’s de politikal price tac?

Okay, so those colourful tags caught my eye. Kudos to the layout people at the ST.

Read already very ‘gao way’, so have to give my 2 cents worth.

K. Sharmugan:
Spending political capital – This is one of those policies on which political capital has to be spent. But spend it we must, for the longer term good of this country.

What I think:
What political capital? Which idiot came up with this term anyway? Oh, I believe it was the Bush guy in the US. Guess he overspent his. Political capital does not make sense here. You can have 0 of this shit and still get elected, so I suggest we don’t copy a term some clown half a globe invented. I’m not buying it.

Thio Li-Ann:
Just a PR exercise – Some deliberations may help the swallowing of a bitter pill, though I suspect, many consider it a public relations exercise.

What I think:
Perhaps they should engage Zoe to teach us how to swallow. We might even end up with a better complexion. And can someone tell me what PR exercise this is? With the kind of response from the public, it sounds a lot more like a nightmare.

Charles Chong:
No-win argument – It seems like the more the Government tries to justify it, the more targets there are for people to shoot down.

What I think:
The justification we are getting is lame at best. They should just go ahead and spend a little bit more of the ‘political capital’ and totally do away with a justification that not many people understand. What’s with that strange graph shit anyway? Am I the only idiot who don’t get it?

Zaqy Mohamad:
Then and now – Many young idealist would still like to see leaders roll up their sleeves and be there with the people, like what Mr Lee K Y used to do. Now we see leaders in their sleek Mercedes and the feeling is just different.

What I think:
I detect a tinge of sucking up but it could just be me. Oh, I really believe being there with the people are what MPs are elected for. To serve the people of the constituency. It is really not the sleek Merc. You can show up with your sleek Merc, help a couple of souls and I think its really fine and dandy.

That being said, I think we should not waste too much time on this issue in parliament, approve the pay hike and get to the more important business of preventing our womenfolks from becoming maids.

I’m sure the 40% hike in GST will be more than enough to cover this increased expenditure anyway.
