Still wondering why Bush is President?

This video will definitely clear all doubts. I mean, with an electorate as clueless as these, you can’t really blame anyone.

These people have the power to noo-ku-larize the whole freakin’ world! We’re screwed!

One Laptop per Child project… Bah!

OLPCThis project has been on going for a couple of years… and the world is getting closer to achieving that aim.

What aim? To bring the cost of laptop down to US$100 each so that third world countries can afford to provide each child with a laptop.

The cost of production is now US$150 per laptop. (Of course Windows won’t be running in this piece of hardware!)

Intel's Low Cost PCMeanwhile, Mr Softy is starting to freak out. Imagine kids growing up using Windowless OS. In one generation, their market dominance could effectively be wiped out.

So… introducing… the pasar malam Windows @ US$3 a piece! For a limited time, coming to a third world country near you!

Their aim is to double the number of PC users globally!

Sounds like good news for the world? Well, think again! What is the lifespan of such a product? 5 years max? These things don’t look lasting in the first place…

China DumpSo where do these products go to after they die? Will the same company that produce these equipment collect them back for recycling? Nah! Too expensive, hence unlikely.

Here’s where it will all go to… the friendly neighbourhood junk yard in the third world country. Here, it will spend the rest of eternity… poisoning the soil and making life harder for the next generation.

Darn bloody big businesses! Once again, short-term financial gains have triumphed over the long-term sustainability of our little Oasis in Space!

Gook Luck, people of the Next Generation. Good Luck.

What’s de politikal price tac?

Okay, so those colourful tags caught my eye. Kudos to the layout people at the ST.

Read already very ‘gao way’, so have to give my 2 cents worth.

K. Sharmugan:
Spending political capital – This is one of those policies on which political capital has to be spent. But spend it we must, for the longer term good of this country.

What I think:
What political capital? Which idiot came up with this term anyway? Oh, I believe it was the Bush guy in the US. Guess he overspent his. Political capital does not make sense here. You can have 0 of this shit and still get elected, so I suggest we don’t copy a term some clown half a globe invented. I’m not buying it.

Thio Li-Ann:
Just a PR exercise – Some deliberations may help the swallowing of a bitter pill, though I suspect, many consider it a public relations exercise.

What I think:
Perhaps they should engage Zoe to teach us how to swallow. We might even end up with a better complexion. And can someone tell me what PR exercise this is? With the kind of response from the public, it sounds a lot more like a nightmare.

Charles Chong:
No-win argument – It seems like the more the Government tries to justify it, the more targets there are for people to shoot down.

What I think:
The justification we are getting is lame at best. They should just go ahead and spend a little bit more of the ‘political capital’ and totally do away with a justification that not many people understand. What’s with that strange graph shit anyway? Am I the only idiot who don’t get it?

Zaqy Mohamad:
Then and now – Many young idealist would still like to see leaders roll up their sleeves and be there with the people, like what Mr Lee K Y used to do. Now we see leaders in their sleek Mercedes and the feeling is just different.

What I think:
I detect a tinge of sucking up but it could just be me. Oh, I really believe being there with the people are what MPs are elected for. To serve the people of the constituency. It is really not the sleek Merc. You can show up with your sleek Merc, help a couple of souls and I think its really fine and dandy.

That being said, I think we should not waste too much time on this issue in parliament, approve the pay hike and get to the more important business of preventing our womenfolks from becoming maids.

I’m sure the 40% hike in GST will be more than enough to cover this increased expenditure anyway.

Same justification formula, can they ever get more original?

Why is it that everytime our beloved ministers try to justify their pay, they always over do it?

Giving nice economic figures is really an overkill. We all know that once the pay increase gets through (which we all know it will regardless), there is a high chance the news won’t get any better.

I personally feel that they should just get it over with. Frankly, I really don’t care.

Yup, I’m one of those apathetic citizens of this booger of an island.

It is not ready yet. Well, at least the offices aren’t. But the food outlets are already there.
Well, rental money is indeed good money.
Guess the garmen also knows how to make money besides increasing taxes.
They sure need them after nicely ‘adjusting’ their pay alright.
Oh, did I mention that I had dinner at this place called New York, New York? I finally get to taste a Philly Cheese Steak Burger. The one that the eat guy go Megas XLR always eat. Wonder if it is the real thing.
