Hola! From Granada…
It’s been 9 days since my quit job go travelling thing began. This is great! I was in London for the first three days. Good ‘ol English weather… typically wet with and occassional hail. Still felt better than the lousy hot and humid weather of Singapore.
I’m in Spain now. The weather is like awfully smashing here. With a nice hot sun and cool temperatures, I could get used to staying here.
The first two days were spent in Seville where we visited the Cathedral, and the Alcazar (Palace). Both fantastically preserved and rich.
Comparing these locations with the palaces in India, I’d stay they parallel in magnificence but the preservation of the Indian palaces is not as complete. Parts have been looted and my personal view is, much restoration effort has to be made for the Indian palaces to be restored to is former glory… if it was possible.
The treasures found in the Cathedral of Seville alone seem to hold enough riches to run a small country.
What I really hate about these places though, is the lack of information describing the place. You need a stupid audioguide which you have to rent in order to learn anything out of the visit. So you pay for the entrance, and then you have to pay for the rental of a mobile phone looking contraption. It’s just a ridiculous way of putting hidden cost into a tourist attraction.
Apart from that, I had a really great time.

I’m in Granada now. Been here since Friday. I’m staying in a hostel called the Rambutan. Most of the people here have no idea what a rambutan is, but that’s fine. I love this place any way. We’ve extended the stay from two to three then perhaps to four or five days… let’s just see how it goes…
Till the next time, I’ll go soak in some mountain sun….
Cheerios!
